“We want you to live, and we want you to live well,” says mental health counselor and chaplain, Lea Walker-Clark. For this reason, in 2010, Lea started non-profit organization, No More, No Mas, and began hosting a conference every summer at PromiseLand Church in Austin, Texas, called D.R.I.F.T. Birthed out of Lea’s very moving family history, No More, No Mas exists to help end the silence about abuse and to help people rise out of past and current circumstances. D.R.I.F.T. is held to equip people with tools to do those things. Listen in on my conversation with special guest co-host Damita Miller-Shanklin, editor of Ujima Magazine, and Lea Walker-Clark, as we discuss the different kinds of abuse and how Lea and her team of volunteers can help.
This year’s conference will be held Thursday, August 6, 2015 through August 8, 2015 at PromiseLand Church, 1504 East 51st Street, Austin, Texas. You can attend all or only part of it for the price of $10 or a canned good. Visit www.nomorenomas.org for more information.
